  • How do I sign up?

    Signing up is quick and easy. Simply download our mobile app, follow the registration steps, and you'll be ready to start posting shifts in minutes. From there you can invite your shift managers to join the app so that they can manage shifts in real time.

Contractor Verification & Quality Insurance

  • How does Shifty verify contractors?

    Shifty partners with Stripe to conduct identity verification. Each contractor must provide a selfie and submit a picture of their official government ID to confirm their identity before being approved for shifts.

  • How can I ensure the quality of contractors?

    Shifty provides comprehensive contractor profiles, including past reviews, reliability metrics and certifications, allowing you to make informed decisions. Additionally, our review system helps maintain a high standard by providing transparent feedback from other restaurants.

  • What should I do if a contractor does not meet my expectations? 

    You can immediately report any concerns directly through the app. Feedback is important to us, and contractors consistently receiving negative feedback or violations may be removed from the platform.

  • Are contractors insured through Shifty? 

    As independent contractors, workers on Shifty are responsible for their own insurance coverage. We encourage all contractors to have their own liability insurance, but restaurants can request proof of coverage directly from the contractor if needed.

Creating & Managing Shifts

  • How do I post a shift?

    Posting a shift is simple. Navigate to the “Create Shift” page, enter the required details, and submit it. Once posted, eligible contractors will be notified and can apply immediately.

  • What is the life cycle of a shift?

    After posting a shift, you’ll receive contractor applications and can review their profiles before selecting the best fit. When the shift starts, your staff must approve the start from the “Manage Shift” screen, which officially begins the timer. The shift can be ended anytime by either party, after which the app calculates the final duration and payment. Shifty then processes the payment and allows both parties to leave reviews.

  • Am I able to cancel a shift after posting?

    Yes, you can cancel shifts at any time through the “Manage Shift” page. If a contractor has already been selected, they will be notified immediately. We encourage canceling as early as possible to give contractors adequate notice.

  • Are there penalties if I frequently cancel posted shifts? 

    While there are no direct penalties, frequent cancellations may affect your ability to attract quality contractors. We encourage clear communication and reliability to maintain a positive reputation on the platform.

  • What happens if a contractor no-shows?

     If a contractor does not show up, you will not be charged for the shift. No-shows are flagged in our system, and repeat offenders risk having their accounts suspended. Our goal is to ensure a reliable and professional workforce for restaurants using Shifty.

  • Are contractors able to cancel?

    Yes, contractors can rescind their applications. When this happens, you will be notified and prompted to review new applicants.

Payments & Pricing

  • Does Shifty charge any subscription fees? 

    No, Shifty does not charge subscription or membership fees. Restaurants only pay for completed shifts.

  • Are there additional fees beyond contractor pay? 

    Shifty applies a transparent service fee per completed shift, clearly outlined during the shift posting process. There are no hidden fees or surprise charges.

  • How are payments handled in the app? 

    Shifty partners with Stripe, a globally trusted payment processor used by brands like Airbnb and Lyft. Payments are securely managed, and Shifty does not store sensitive banking details. Stripe ensures that contractors are paid on time after shifts are completed.

  • Can I review payments made to contractors? 

    Yes, you can review and track all payments made to contractors directly in the app’s wallet (under the restaurant profile), providing transparency and control over your expenses.

Technical Support & Onboarding

  • What if I encounter technical issues with the app?

    We are currently launching as a Pilot & while our app has been heavily tested, errors may be encountered. Our support team is available via email at support@gotshifty.com to quickly address any technical difficulties you encounter.

  • Do you provide onboarding assistance? 

    Onboarding can be done independtly by you, but we are also happy to walk through the process with you. If you would like assistance with onboarding, please reach us at support@gotshifty.com.

  • How quickly can I expect a response from support?

    Our support team typically responds within 24 hours, ensuring timely assistance for all your inquiries.
